Detailed charts and analysis reveal how salaries measure up across the nation.

Philadelphia, PA - October 29, 2007 — Case in Point Magazine announced the release of its 2007 Case Management Salary and Trends Survey. Presenting professional demographics from more than 1,290 respondents across the nation and throughout the continuum of care, the Survey provides a snapshot of the practice and its prevailing trends. Anne Llewellyn, RN-BC, MS, BHSA, CCM, CRRN, Editor-in-Chief of case management products and services at Dorland Healthcare Information, analyzed and compiled the results in an easy-to-follow summary. The Survey is available at www.caseinpointmagazine.com.

The results display the recent growth and evolvement of the case management profession. The survey also identifies growing trends that need to be addressed in order to ensure a continued growth of the practice. “Areas such as cultural diversity, clinical competency and recruitment and retention efforts need to be developed in a creative manner to ensure the practice meets the growing demands of the diverse consumers of health care,” says Llewellyn. The survey allows for leaders of the practice, as well as grassroots case managers, to examine their internal practices and develop plans to improve strategies and the effectiveness and efficiencies throughout the continuum. “I am excited that we had such a strong response to the 2007 Survey,” Llewellyn says. “It shows that there is a need for the information. The 2007 Survey will be used as a benchmark that we can use going forward to track and trend the progress of the practice.”

Detailed, four-color graphs and charts show results that range from topics that include age, gender, education, certifications, salary range, caseloads and outcomes achieved by case managers in settings across the continuum. “If you want to understand the practice of case management, this is a must-read report,” says Llewellyn. For full color reprints of the survey, contact Bernadette Poiesz at 215-875-1273, or bpoiesz@dorlandhealth.com.

Website answers need for a patient education tool that rates the best websites on health conditions

Philadelphia, PA - March 5, 2007 — Answering the need for a tool that evaluates online health content, Dorland Healthcare Information has launched Dorlandwebsiteguide.com. An accessible alternative to its in-print series, the comprehensive website identifies, describes, filters, rates and directs consumers to the best websites on the 60 most common diseases and health conditions.

“Finding health information on the internet is no easy task,” says Robert Graham, CEO of Dorland Healthcare Information. “There is good information out there, but it is difficult to know where to turn, especially when it comes to your health. How do you know if information found is credible, and how much time can you allot to sorting through thousands of deceptive, random and often outdated results? Dorlandwebsiteguide.com has solved this problem for Web users who are increasingly looking for health information on the internet.”

Dorlandwebsiteguide.com is designed to direct consumers to the most reliable online health information in a matter of seconds. “Users can be confident in the recommended sites,” says Robert C. Smith Jr., Ph.D., editor in chief of Dorlandwebsiteguide.com and Dorland’s Healthcare Website Guide, the website’s corresponding print version. “Profiled sites are researched by a credentialed staff of medical writers, physicians and website development experts,” adds Smith. “Eighty percent of the online population searched for health information last year, and less than 50 percent were satisfied with the results they found. This is clearly the right product at the right time.”

The website is also a great resource for time-stressed physicians, as it helps doctors efficiently care for their patients by directing them to vetted and medically reviewed healthcare websites. “A physician’s time is so much in demand,” says Harry J. Alba Jr., Executive Vice President of Sales at Dorland Healthcare Information. “Dorlandwebsiteguide.com saves healthcare professionals hundreds of hours, which would otherwise be spent searching the Web for objective and reliable disease-specific websites.”

Dorlandwebsiteguide.com also provides pharmaceutical sales representatives with a new marketing tool, and will create opportunities for pharmaceutical sales representatives to gain face-time with physicians. “Most importantly, it will help professionals care for their patients,” says Alba. “The rules have changed regarding the kinds of advertising premiums and gifts that can be given to health professionals. Fortunately, a patient education tool featuring medically relevant health information is perfectly suited to today’s marketplace and PhRMA guidelines.”

Available online and in print, consumers can purchase subscriptions and individual copies of Dorland’s Healthcare Website Guide by calling 800-784-2332 or by visiting Dorlandwebsiteguide.com. Customized, branded, cross-platform copies are available.

Dorland Healthcare Information launches Dorland’s Healthcare Website Guide
Publication answers need for a patient education tool that rates the best websites on health conditions.

Philadelphia, PA — December 12, 2006 - In a move that redefines the way consumers search for online health information, Dorland Healthcare Information has launched Dorland’s Healthcare Website Guide, a series of books that identifies, describes, filters and rates the best websites on the 60 most common diseases and health conditions. This series is the first of its kind, directing consumers to only the most credible Web information.

“Finding reliable online health information is no easy task,” says Robert Graham, CEO of Dorland Healthcare Information. “Results from major search engines can be overwhelming. How much time can you allot to sorting through thousands of deceptive, random and often outdated results, and how do you know if the information found is credible? Dorland’s Healthcare Website Guide has solved this problem for Web users who are increasingly going online for health information.”

Dorland’s Healthcare Website Guide is designed to direct consumers to the most reliable online health information in a matter of seconds. “Users can be confident in the recommended sites,” says Robert C. Smith Jr., Ph.D., Editor-in-Chief of Dorland’s Healthcare Website Guide. “Created by an experienced staff of physicians, medical editors and website analysts, the series contains the most reliable information from a trusted and independent third party source.” Smith added that “80 percent of the online population searched for health information last year, and less than 50 percent was satisfied with the results they found. This is clearly the right product at the right time.”

The Guide is also a great resource for time-stressed physicians as it helps doctors efficiently care for their patients by directing them to health websites vetted and pre-screened by Dorland’s group of medical experts. “Total Health Rewards is excited to partner with Dorland Healthcare in the launch of the Website Guide. Providing the means to quickly and confidently direct patients to appropriate online information is undoubtedly a benefit to both Physician and Patient,” says Mary Tooman, Director of Materials Management for Total Health Rewards.

Dorland’s Healthcare Website Guide also provides pharmaceutical sales representatives with a new and relevant marketing tool. It saves healthcare professionals hundreds of hours, which would otherwise be spent searching the Web for objective and reliable disease-specific websites. “Time is perhaps the greatest gift to anyone, especially physicians. Their time is so much in demand,” says Harry J. Alba Jr., Executive Vice President of Sales at Dorland Healthcare Information. “The guide will be invaluable for both patients and health professionals and will help create ongoing opportunities for pharmaceutical sales representatives to gain more face-time with physicians. Most importantly, it will help the professionals care for their patients.” Alba added that “the rules have changed regarding the kinds of advertising premiums and gifts that can be given to health professionals. Fortunately, a patient education tool featuring medically relevant health information is perfectly suited to today’s marketplace and PhRMA guidelines.”

Available now in print, and online beginning January 2007, consumers can purchase individual copies of Dorland’s Healthcare Website Guide by calling toll free at 800.784.2332. Physicians are encouraged to visit www.totalhealthrewards.com to redeem certificates or purchase the guides most appropriate to their specialty.

Leader in Case Management Joins Dorland Healthcare Information

Philadelphia, PA – May 19, 2006 - Dorland Healthcare Information is pleased to announce that Anne Llewellyn, RN.C, BHSA, CCM, CRRN has joined the Company as the Editor-in-Chief of all its case management products: the Case Management Resource Guide, Case in Point, and CMRG.com. “Anne’s passion for case management fits extremely well with Dorland Healthcare Information’s goals for our case management products. I believe that this combination will ensure that all of our products focused on case managers will meet their professional needs and that we can continue to provide case managers access to the tools they need to empower them to provide safe, quality, cost-effective health care at the right time and in the most appropriate setting possible,” said Robert A. Graham, President and CEO.

According to Llewellyn, the question that continues to be asked by those outside the case management industry is: What is it that case managers do? Says Llewellyn, “As a case management professional who has been active in the field, it concerns me that this question is still being asked. Today, we have Standards of Practice, a Code of Professional Conduct and national certifications that provide research-based information on the role and function of the practice of case management. So why is the question still being asked? My role as Editor-in-Chief of Case in Point, the Case Management Resource Guide, and CMRG.com will be to put this question to rest by providing a clear answer to this question with life examples so all have an understanding of the role and function of today’s case manager. In addition, I hope to empower and motivate case management professionals to take an active role in their communities to share the successful outcomes of the care they provide for the patients and families they serve.”

Llewellyn has been a leader in the field of healthcare as a critical care nurse, catastrophic case manager and educator since 1978. Ms. Llewellyn earned her Nursing Degree from Hahnemann University, Philadelphia, PA and her Bachelors Degree in Health Care Administration from Barry University, Miami, FL in 1995. Llewellyn will complete her Masters Degree Training and Development from St. Francis University, Joliet IL in the 2006 summer term. Llewellyn holds national credentials as a Certified Registered Nurse from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), a Certified Case Manager through the Commission for Case Management Certification (CCMC) and a Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN) through the American Rehabilitation Nurses (ARN). Llewellyn is the co-author of Case Manager Review and Resource Manual: The Essence of Case Management, published in 2001 and updated in 2005 by the Institute for Research, Education and Consultation (IREC) and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Ms. Llewellyn has written and lectured nationally on topics related to patient safety, quality of care, and case management. Llewellyn is Past President of the Case Management Society of America (CMSA) and continues to be an active member of the local chapter, the South Florida Case Management Chapter. She is also a member of the American Nurses Association and the Emergency Nurse Association. Llewellyn was a founding member of The Center for Practical Health Reform.
